The 2025 Château Troplong Mondot is a spectacular and exceptionally refined expression of Saint-Émilion, combining remarkable concentration with freshness, mineral tension and an almost weightless sense of elegance. The estate’s elevated limestone-and-clay terroir proved particularly advantageous during the warm, dry 2025 growing season, helping preserve freshness and precision. Crafted from 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, the wine combines the richness traditionally associated with Troplong Mondot with a more graceful, terroir-driven style. Ageing takes place in 50% new oak, 40% large foudres and 10% one-year-old barrels.

Tasting Profile

On the nose, expect intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cassis and ripe plum, complemented by beautiful floral notes of lilac, iris and violet, along with graphite, crushed stone, dark chocolate, liquorice and subtle spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, yet remarkably controlled and elegant. Fine, chalky tannins surround layers of ripe dark fruit, while vibrant acidity and pronounced limestone minerality provide energy and tension. The finish is exceptionally long, pure and persistent, with lingering floral, mineral and dark-fruit nuances.

Critic Reviews & Scores

Wine Advocate / William Kelley:
98–100/100 – One of the standout wines of the 2025 vintage. Deep and dense, with blackberry and plum fruit, floral nuances of lilac and iris, bright acidity and abundant but beautifully ripe tannins. Kelley considers it capable of rivaling the exceptional 2022 Troplong Mondot.

James Suckling:
97–98/100 – A highly structured yet elegant Troplong Mondot showing blackberry, hazelnut, dark chocolate, violet and black liquorice. Full-bodied but restrained, with exceptionally fine tannins providing definition and balance.

Jeb Dunnuck:
97–99/100 – Pure and graceful, with black raspberry, crushed stone, spicy graphite and floral notes. Medium to full-bodied with excellent mid-palate concentration and impressive length, combining intensity and depth without any sensation of heaviness.

Vinous / Antonio Galloni:
97–99/100 – One of the most finessed Troplong Mondots Galloni has tasted, combining dark fruit, dried herbs, chocolate, menthol and liquorice with remarkable concentration and purity. Powerful yet never heavy, and considered one of the wines of the vintage.

Vinous / Neal Martin:
96–98/100 – Intensely aromatic with black cherry, cassis and iris, followed by a precise, mineral-driven palate with chalky tannins and excellent tension. Classy and sophisticated, with the potential to rank among the finest Troplong Mondots produced.
