- Suckling: 94–95/100
- Jeff Leve: 92–94/100
The 2025 Château Sociando-Mallet is a beautifully accomplished and classically styled expression of the Haut-Médoc, combining generous fruit concentration with freshness, precision and the estate’s characteristic structure. With Cabernet yields particularly low in 2025, Merlot plays an unusually prominent role in the blend, giving the wine additional flesh, roundness and immediate fruit expression. Crafted from 66% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, the wine nevertheless retains the graphite-driven, structured personality for which Sociando-Mallet is renowned.
Tasting Profile
On the nose, expect expressive aromas of cassis, blackberry, mulberry, raspberry and dark plum, complemented by notes of graphite, pencil shavings, smoky tobacco, spice and subtle oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and supple, with a generous core of juicy dark fruit framed by focused, well-defined tannins. Fresh acidity brings energy and tension, while mineral and savory nuances add complexity. The finish is long, precise and persistent, with lingering notes of dark berries, graphite and spice.

93–94/100 – A particularly successful Sociando-Mallet, showing layered aromas of mulberry, cassis, raspberry and spice. The long finish brings pencil and dark-berry nuances, with greater precision and integration than in recent vintages.
