Chateau Figeac 1999

Figeac's deep ruby/purple-colored 1999 boasts a gorgeous nose of black fruits intermixed with incense, spice box, and cigar smoke. A beautiful texture, full body, low acidity, and abundant quantities of glycerin and fat add to this complex wine's immense appeal. It will undoubtedly firm up, but will be destined for early consumption, although it has the depth and overall equilibrium to last for two decades.

Falstaff:

Medium ruby garnet, youthful reflections, delicate rim brightening. In the nose delicate after soy sauce, underlaid with dark berry confit, candied orange zest, a touch of shiitake mushrooms, dark minerality. Delicately nutty underpinnings, red berry confit, present tannins that are still somewhat demanding, somewhat watered down body, medium length.
