Masseto 2013

After tasting in barrel, the 2013 Masseto is shaping up to be a superstar. Already more muscular and taut than the warm 2011 and 2012 vintages, this edition of the wine is instead straightforward and balanced with lovely fruit notes enhanced by lingering sensations of baking spice, dark chocolate and tobacco. The bouquet delivers the classic aromas one might expect from a Merlot of this high level. The mouthfeel also shows a tight acid structure that is promising for the future evolution of this impressive wine. The tannins are youthful and unyielding, but they also show a firm structure and balance that support the wine's rich extract and flavors.

Aromas of blueberries, violets and roses, merging into black truffles. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and very long. So beautiful and persistent. It lasts for minutes.
